Kevin is a little boy excited about his first day of school. He has been waiting for this day ever since he learned how to say his ABC’s. But there was one thing that he has been thinking about for a long time...How will he know where to sit on his first day of school? Mom said to just look for his name on his desk. This made Kevin a little scared. Even though Kevin knew how to "say" his ABC’s, he wasn’t sure if he would be able to recognize the letters of his name. Mom had an idea and suggested that they go for a walk and see how many letters they could see. Now, let’s go with Kevin on his "ABC Adventure."
It was a nice sunny day, a perfect day for a walk. Birds were singing and the sky was a beautiful color of blue with big fluffy white clouds. As Kevin was looking up at the clouds, he said "Mom, are the clouds spelling something?" Mom said, "That’s your name, Kevin."
Kevin asked if they could walk to the park. Kevin loves to play at the park and swing on the swings. As Mom was pushing him on the swing, Kevin noticed that the birds were all standing around making a bunch of letters. Kevin said, "Mom, the birds look like they’re spelling a word." Mom said, "You’re right Kevin, they spelled your name."

The park was filled with pretty flowers. Kevin asked Mom if he could pick some flowers for his teacher. Mom said that would be a very nice thing to do. There were many different types of flowers, but there was something especially nice about some yellow flowers that he saw. Kevin asked "Is there something special about these yellow flowers?" Mom said "Yes there is, they spell your name."

Just around the corner from the park is Kevin's favorite bakery. Kevin loves to walk past the bakery window and see what they’re making. Today they were making letter cookies. Mom said, "Look Kevin, they’re making cookies just for you."

Since they live close to the zoo, Kevin thought it would be fun to visit all the animals including his favorite, the polar bear. When they got to the polar bear it looked like it was sleeping. Mom said, Look "Kevin, the polar bear has the same name as you."
As they were leaving the zoo, they walked past a water fountain. Kevin didn’t say anything, but something looked very familiar.

It was getting late and Mom said it was time to start heading back home. Kevin asked Mom if they could take the long way and walk along the beach. One of Kevin's favorite things to do at the beach is to collect shells. As Kevin was looking down at the sand he saw a bunch of shells that he had never seen before. They were all shaped like letters. It was a little hard for Kevin to tell what all of the letters were so he asked Mom to spell them for him. Mom spelled "K" "E" "V" "I" "N"

When Kevin got home, it was almost time for bed. But before Kevin goes to bed every night he gives his dog a treat. Kevin's dog must have known tomorrow was his first day of school because his dog had a message waiting for him.
This was a great day and Kevin can hardly wait for tomorrow. Kevin got in bed and Mom read him a story. Kevin could barely keep his eyes open until the story was finished. Just before he closed his eyes, Kevin peeked out at the moon and the stars and couldn’t believe what he saw. "Does that say what I think it says?" Mom said, "Yes it does Kevin. Good night."
